Mr. Dickinson's Maths

We had an amazing morning with Mr. Dickinson (not our Head Teacher! The maths one).  We looked at a whole bar that represented 20 then Mr. Dickinson split it into 4 equal parts.  We told him that they were quarters and then he challenged us to write some number sentences about the bars.

This was really tricky and we started off with some simple ones like 5+5+5+5=20 but then we made some more difficult ones.

Mr. Dickinson said that the world record was 17 number sentences!

We managed to get 18! Have a look at the picture to see all of our amazing calculations.

We then had to work some out on our own and by then end of the lesson our brains were aching (in a good way) because they had worked so much doing all that problem solving.  We really had to think hard!

Thank you, Mr. Dickinson.
