Minecraft

OK... here goes... blogging!  A new sphere for St Joseph’s and we are the lucky ones who get to test it out.

This seems to be a great way to communicate with parents, but also the wider world.  We aim to post on here most weeks about the work we have done in class and show some pictures (and videos if we get any good at it!) so that we can show the world what we are doing.

The blog was set up during the summer and it has taken to now to be able to really get going due to other circumstances.  I thought that the next topic we are doing would be a great reason to right.

In class over the next few weeks, we are looking at the games Minecraft and Angry Birds.   Part of the lessons will be dedicated to playing these games so when your children come home and tell you they have been playing on the iPads, they are telling the truth!  But they are playing with a purpose.

Most of the children will be familiar with these games and we are using this enthusiasm to create the best working environment to produce some fantastic writing; camouflage learning, if you will!  We will be looking at writing reports based on the blocks used in Minecraft, how they are used, what they look like, looking at different tools in the game, the different modes of the game and then we will be producing writing based on all of this and more.

Normally, we will write reports about the school day, but this will get the children much more engaged and inspired to produce outstanding work.

Wish us luck!
