Freeze Frame!

Year 2 have been looking at the story in the bible where Peter and John helped a paralysed beggar not by giving him money, but by giving him something more... the power to walk.  They could only do this through the power of Jesus.

Here are our freeze frames.  Can you guess which part we are freeze framing?

Please share and leave a comment! We love reading them!

Watch Us Perform!

Today was awesome!

We have been looking at poetry and we decided to write our own poem and perform it.  We used a particular rhyme scheme (can you guess it?) and got into groups.  We were then given a monster, a place in the house and the rhythm pattern that our poem should follow.  After we had practiced we decided to film it and we made hat masks for the characters our verses were about so we looked a bit special when we were filmed!

So... here is our poem.

Come Quick by Year 2

It is called Come Quick because monsters are invading our house and it is based on an idea by two of Mr. Needle's friends: John (@readingexplorer) and Ian (@blandpoet)

Please share this if you like it!

Year 2 Riddle Videos

In Year 2, we have been looking at writing riddles.  We had a sheet with lots of items on and we have tried to describe some of them in the style of a riddle.  The best clue is always left until the end and we finish with 'What am I?"

Can you guess what we are describing before we tell you?

Infants' Easter Celebration

To celebrate Easter, Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 will be singing some Easter songs in church.  The mini-production will be taking place on Wednesday 1st April and will begin at approximately 2.00pm.

The performance is for children to listen and enjoy but we would like to welcome any parents, relatives and friends along.

Please keep the front two benches on the centre aisle free as well as the benches on either side of the altar as this is where the children will be sitting.

We hope you can join us in our celebrations.

Poems for Choral Speaking Festival

Here are the poems that we will be performing at the Oldham School's Choral Speaking Festival:

You Are Special by Chris Bambrough

You are more special than a sunrise
Or a mountain covered in snow;
You’re more special than
the most important secret you could know.

You’re more special than the winning goal
In the last minute of the match,
More wonderful than a winning serve
Or a fielder’s diving catch.

You’re more fantastic than a musical
That makes the whole world sing;
More special than a chocolate cake
With double-chocolate icing.

You’re more important than the last panda
Or gorilla left on Earth,
Than an eagle or a peacock;
Just see how much you’re worth.

You are more beautiful than emeralds
More wonderful than gold,
You’re more special than
the most exciting story ever told.

You’re not an accident or a burden
Or a terrible mistake;
You’re special,
You’re original,
You’re the best thing God could make.

Who’s Baddest? By Kate Umansky

Wolf  One:
Hello, fans.  I’m the Big Bad Wolf
Of Little Piggies fame.
What’s that? You want my autograph?
Most certainly.  Your name?

Wolf Two:
Excuse me. I’m the Big Bad Wolf
Who tricked Red Riding Hood.
This wolf is an imposter!
My friends, this wolf is good.

Wolf One:
How dare you. I’m the Big Bad Wolf
No matter what you say.
Be off, before I huff and puff
And blow you clean away.

Wolf Two:
Aha!  And so it’s come to blows!
This wolf is really sad.
I’ll go and eat his granny up
And then we’ll see who’s bad.

Huff, puff...
Gobble, gobble...
Huff, puff...
Gobble, gobble...
Huff, puff...
Gobble, gobble...

Both:
Then we’ll see who’s bad!
